This show was WET!!!
Darien Lake is always a good place to see a show, especially if it is one of your favorites. Located right between Rochester and Buffalo, this was our hometown show! But weather is a funny thing, and rain was imminent that day.
Steve and I were there with a large group of friends, and many, many more people joined us as the day went along. We got there early to hang out and entered the venue just before show time. And then it happened, the sky just opened up. Not even drops, but buckets of rain began to pour from above.
Most of us were lucky and found shelter under the amphitheater. Some were not as fortunate. Our friend Dan and my own brother Jeremy are examples - they found no shelter at all. Jeremy, a veteran of the outdoor concert scene, to this day has difficulty considering that one truly an 'attended Phish show'. He sounded miserable- certainly there more in body than in spirit. Similarly, Dan, in short, was wearing a sweatshirt so soaked with precipitation, which it just might have weighed more than him – his mood was just as heavy!
Three good things: 1) Phish played a great show; 2) It was our hometown show; 3) I stayed dry!!
