 06.02.18 Roseland Theater (Portland, OR)

Buddy Guy:

We celebrated our five year anniversary by heading to Portland for the weekend and saw Buddy Guy at the Roseland Theater (Portland, OR).  The show was the best Buddy Guy show I've seen.  For a guy of 70 or so he still as amazing amount of energy.  He was all over the place and the guitar.  The show was a rockin' time, much different than those Lloyd's Barbecue shows we saw him at a few years ago.  The man was sweating and smiling all night and if you've ever seen him smile you'll never forget it.

We left Pullman on a Friday afternoon trying to make dinner reservations at Paley's Place in Downtown Portland.  It was real cold out, the coldest weekend of the winter.  We were making good time but still cutting it pretty close.  Our reservations were for 9:30 and at times it appeared that it could go either way.  About 60 miles outside of Portland on I84 out of no where the back driver-side window exploded.  Fortunately, we were right by an exit, more importantly one with a gas station.  The attendant gave me a moving blanket that was soaking wet to fill the gap left by the shattered glass.  I quickly rigged it up and we hit  the road again.  This all happened in less than 10 minutes so we lost little time.  All told we did end up making our dinner reservation, the food and the entire weekend were excellent.
