Sunnyside Park is my new home course as of August 2005. The course is a little tougher than a rec-course since it does have 8 holes longer than 300ft. Don't get me wrong I love having this course around, when I first moved here there were 4x6 posts being used as pins. As fortune would have it the weekend that we arrrived in town not only was there a tournament but baskets were installed immediately before the players meeting (many thanks to whoever arranged this).
Description:
The course is 18 holes and pretty easy for the most part. I don't consider myself to be a particularly good player (probably a lower end advanced player) and I've birdied 17 of 18 holes. The course is in the Palouse which your probably not to familiar with. The Palouse is this unique environment in Eastern Washington State. Rolling hills begins to describe it but certainly doesn't do it justice. The area is a grasssland and is mostly wheat. Just to put the picture in your head think of the Sahara desert but rather than sand its wheat. There are few if any native trees and it goes on for about 70 suqare miles. now there are trees in the park but not too many which makes for wide open fairways with littel to get in the way. Point being you can really shank a drive and easily par the hole because there's not much to get in the way. The Palouse does have unique beauty that adds to the experience you can see for miles at the top of some of the hills but more importantly when throwing across the side of one it feels like you can throw for miles.
Scores:
As of late I've been averaging around -4-6 (around 48-50) but have shot as low as -7 on a couple of occassions. Word around town is -7 is the course record shared by many I assume. I think it'll just take one really decent player to shatter the record (just so you don't think my head is too large).
Notable Moments:
Aced hole number 9 Summer of 2006 (dates coming) with my 170 Z-predator. I threw a -7 on this round
Aced Hole number 7 Summer 2006 (dates coming) with a new Wizard 171g. This one was really a blast, I was playing through a group of about 13 guys (I know too big) who were listening to a WSU game on a portable radio they were carrying around and they went nuts when I 1 hopped it in. Sweet!
